Azerbaijani, Armenian leaders reaffirm commitment to direct peace talks

BAKU, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed to advance efforts toward normalizing relations between their countries, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said on Thursday.

The two leaders met Thursday in Abu Dhabi and reaffirmed that direct bilateral negotiations remain the most effective format for resolving outstanding issues, the ministry said in a press release.

It also added that both leaders agreed to continue a results-oriented dialogue aimed at achieving lasting peace.

Aliyev and Pashinyan reviewed progress on border delimitation and directed their respective commissions to continue practical work in this area. They also reaffirmed their commitment to confidence-building measures and sustained dialogue, according to the press release. Enditem
