LUSAKA, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian government issued a global cautionary alert on Friday, urging citizens living abroad, particularly in the United States, and those planning to travel overseas to strictly comply with all immigration laws and regulations.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the advisory aims to protect its citizens and ensure they do not violate the laws of host countries.
"The United States of America has announced several key measures to enhance the protection of its borders and ensure that its immigration laws and regulations are duly followed by all foreign nationals. In the same vein, many other countries are implementing similar measures to safeguard their own citizens," the ministry said.
It warned that violations of immigration laws not only jeopardize an individual's immigration status but could also damage Zambia's international reputation and, in some cases, result in broader policy consequences affecting Zambians at large.
As a precaution, the ministry has advised Zambian nationals residing abroad without valid immigration status to consider returning to Zambia voluntarily. Enditem
