ALMATY, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan plans to introduce a temporary ban on the export of non-ferrous metals by all modes of transport until Dec. 31, 2025, the press service of the Kazakh prime minister said in a statement Friday.
The ban applies to unprocessed copper, aluminum slabs and billets, and lead ingots.
According to the statement, the measure aims to secure Kazakhstan's domestic market with strategic raw materials, reduce exports of low value-added products, and stimulate the processing of non-ferrous metals within the country.
In addition, the government has decided to lift the export customs duty on gallium, which previously stood at 10 percent. The move is intended to stimulate gallium production in Kazakhstan and enhance its export potential.
The decisions were announced during a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin. Enditem
